Giving personality to an
education technology website
Moodlerooms is an education technology company that helps teachers at all education levels manage their classrooms. Moodlerooms needed a website that would deliver content about Joule, their online learning platform, to their three main audiences in an engaging way while also driving conversions on the website. R2i was also challenged to ensure the new Moodlerooms website emulated the company’s fun personality.
With a focus on allowing engaging user experiences, r2i created a strategic content publishing workflow and implemented advanced search and tagging capabilities within the new website. As part of a significant strategy phase, r2i conducted research interviewing Moodlerooms stakeholders and customers and also conducted competitive research to understand the landscape of education technology providers and the customer personas.
To accomplish one of the main objectives of the website—infusing the Moodlerooms personality into the website—r2i designed custom illustrations that represent each of the three target audiences: K-12 elementary schools; universities and higher education; and professional government organizations. We also created an illustration to represent Joule, the technology tool itself and incorporated simple but clever design elements throughout the site.
Built on a Drupal open source content management system, the new Moodlerooms website clearly guides users to their specific Joule solution and highlights the benefits and features of Joule that are most relevant to their needs. The site is also designed around clear calls to action such as trying Joule for free, taking a demo and reviewing product resources like case studies, testimonials, video and blog articles.
The new Moodlerooms website has been an award-winning website in numerous categories such as the 2013 Addy Awards and Interactive Media Awards.
